A Conservation Planned Community

The Facts Are In...

Following months of testimony by expert witnesses, the McHenry County Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) has scheduled the opportunity for public comment on the Barrington Farms development proposal. Read our latest mailer for details.

Official transcripts of the testimony presented to date are available at the McHenry County Government Center. Relevant excerpts are also available here. It is important to take note of the sworn testimony, as many inaccurate and misleading statements have been circulated by opponents of the project, including the Village of Barrington Hills.

Expert testimony offered by both the Developer and Barrington Hills has demonstrated that the design of the project is consistent with many of the goals and objectives of the McHenry County Zoning Ordinance, the McHenry County Comprehensive Plan and even the newly-adopted Barrington Hills Comprehensive Plan. Read the new Facts section to learn how even expert witnesses for the Village of Barrington Hills agree that the Barrington Farms design plan would protect natural resources, including woodland and savannas, restore the shallow aquifer and provide a safe and proven land treatment system.

Barrington Farms is a blueprint for exceptional environmental design that 'reaches higher' and succeeds. This development has been designed to the strictest conservation planning standards. It protects existing woodlands and wetlands, invests substantial resources in their restoration and enhancement, and provides an assured mechanism and funding for their long-term management. Read more about the benefits of conservation design here.

The testimony is in and the facts show that Barrington Farms is an appropriate land use given the densities in the surrounding area. The development plan provides a variety of housing styles while preserving more than fifty percent of the total land area as open space in perpetuity. Show your support for conservation-minded design by writing a letter of support to the ZBA or by attending the upcoming public hearing.
